Pine Bluff - Jefferson County

With a population of 49,083 (2010), Pine Bluff is the county seat of Jefferson County. The second oldest settlement on the Arkansas River, Pine Bluff today is the trade, entertainment, recreation and healthcare center for Southeast Arkansas. Located in the heart of the rich Arkansas River Basin farming area, the community is a leading producer of cotton, soybeans, rice, poultry and timber.

Utilizing a barge port, rail, and highways, a diverse industrial base also exists. The range of employers ranges from agricultural product value-ad to machinery manufacture and includes scientific research labs. Principal industries are poultry processing and production of tire cord wire, paper and electric transformers.

Pine Bluff is known for its people and is widely recognized as a caring community. Residents annually contribute thousands of volunteer hours to charitable, social service, and civic improvement organizations, as well as supporting these organizations financially. The United Way consistently meets its annual goal of more than $ 1 million.
