On November 7 and 8, 2021, the TBIC hosted its annual Transatlantic
Business & Investment Conference in Atlanta, GA. After almost twenty months
of absence due to travel restrictions, we made a well overdue comeback on U.S.
soil to reconnect with our TBIC network! Together with our 90+ attendees, we
kickstarted the FDI recovery with a day-long conference. Our guests had the
opportunity to listen to and interact with transatlantic business experts
during our workshops, and networked with some of the leading practitioners in
European FDI in the United States.
The first round of workshops focused on the current state of
transatlantic relations with key insights on how the new U.S. administration
and its policies affect both political and economic ties. Concurrently, another
session focused on the pressing issue of workforce development - specifically,
what U.S. workforce system actors can learn from best practices related to the
EU's dual vocational VET system.
Our networking lunch-break was followed by two more sessions: the first
explored current and future trends in site selection, while the second focused
on the virtual marketing tools available to economic development professionals
that were boosted by the pandemic and will definitely outlast it. Finally, we
wrapped up the conference and discussed the key takeaways with a last all-star
panel.
We would like to conclude with a special thank you to the Metro Atlanta
Chamber for hosting us, as well as our conference sponsors Regional Growth
Partnership, Greater Gallup Economic Development Corporation and SSOE Group! To
all our members, guests, partners and friends: thank you & see you next
year!
