Battle Creek

Development Done Right!

Battle Creek Unlimited (BCU), a private, nonprofit corporation, has received international acclaim for its role as the economic development arm for the city of Battle Creek.

BCU is an enduring alliance of public, private and community leaders, guiding the nation’s first and most successful base conversion into Michigan’s largest modern industrial park - the 3,000-acre Fort Custer Industrial Park. Today the Fort Custer Industrial Park is home to more than 80 companies, employing more than 13,600 people.

BCU is unique in its ability to provide generous local investment incentives, which are independent from those provided by the State of Michigan. In 2018, BCU adopted a new strategic plan which identifies five key growth sectors: automotive; aviation & defense; food & beverage; logistics; and energy storage.
