Mississippi County, Arkansas Economic Development was formed 2002 with a mission to grow existing industry, while attracting new industry to Mississippi County, Arkansas.

Being the first county in Arkansas to pass an economic development tax in 2003; this organization has facilitated the creation of close to 4,000 new, full time, high paying jobs. Companies choose Mississippi County not only for the incentive, but because of the access to a Class 1 rail road mainline, access to low freight cost on the Mississippi River, access to Interstate 55, and Memphis International Airport which connects Mississippi County to 75% of the U.S. trade market. The first county in Arkansas, to be certified as an ACT Work Ready Community, Mississippi County, Arkansas demonstrates a strong partnership of economic development and education.
