City of Dallas Office of Economic Development

The City of Dallas is the urban center of the most dynamic and diverse metro economy in the U.S., globally connected and centrally located. It is the largest city in the U.S.’ fastest-growing metro economy and fourth most populous metro with 7.4 million residents.

Local government is pro-business, so it’s no surprise that the Dallas area is home to 24 Fortune 500 companies and over 250 corporate headquarters that each employ over 1,000 people globally. Of Forbes’ largest privately held companies, eight are located in the Dallas area. Dallas is the #1 U.S. metro for talent attraction, home to the largest tech workforce in Texas, and is known as an innovation hub for businesses large and small.

Dallas has outstanding transportation options with two major airports, DFW International Airport and Dallas Love Field Airport, that put the city 3.5 hours or less from major North American business centers. It also has five interstate highways, three class railroads, and the U.S.’ largest light rail network.
